But another chapter has ended, (or a part of me wants to say has been put on hold, maybe to resume in a few years.) Nine classrooms have been packed up, not for the summer, but for the move. If someone was not aware of the changes on our horizon, they would have thought the K-2 teachers and Discovery Center were a little too zealous about taking down and packing up their rooms for summer.
But, for the teachers taking their rooms apart, there was a myriad of emotions flooding and, yes, overwhelming them. This was not just the end of the school year, it was the end of our school as we know it. We were saying good-bye to our students, but we were also saying good-bye to fellow teachers, many parents that we will not see as often, and students in older grades that we will seldom see.
We were zealous in our packing, yes, but not because we couldn't wait to get out of there. We were zealous, because we know we have a huge change ahead of us. We were zealous because we know that the success of our move depends on many people working together and being determined to make the move to our new school successful. We were zealous because, frankly, we knew there were many hands available to help load up the semi on Wednesday and if our stuff wasn't ready, it wouldn't make the first run.
...and so we worked long and hard; scrambling for boxes and containers, scrapping over packing tape, and searching for the shrink wrap, because we are committed to making the next chapter of our school's story successful and thankful that God has blessed us with this new opportunity.
Thanks to all of you for offering to help out this summer, we or at least I, am planning to take you up on it. Stay tuned.
Nehemiah 2:18b And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
